The Full Story
Why Choose Summer Camp?

Bear Camp: Give the gift of hands on experience this summer with the ultimate immersion in the wilderness. This camp is tailored to teens seeking something more than the typical summer camp experience. They will join guides to learn key wilderness skills like knife carving, navigation, fire building, wild edible foraging and more. We'll learn about the naturalist side of bears, examining their habits from foraging, to family dynamics, to searching for tracks and sign. We'll learn about their important roles in the ecosystem through epic games and hands on activities that will test our physical and mental agility, stamina and awareness.

We'll also explore the deeper meanings of the bear archetype which invites introspection and intuition. Bears spend many days cocooned in the silence of hibernation inviting us to into stillness of what many call inner knowing. We'll practice the core routine of sit spot, play awareness games to keep each other sharp, practice slowing down by fox walking, and tuning in to the natural world through bird language. We'll practicing the art of sharing and listening in council circles to share our minds, hearts, and experiences.

By choosing bear camp this summer, your teen will get more deeply connected to the natural world through wilderness skills, connect more deeply to their inner knowing through awareness and gain resilience and confidence in their adolescence that will serve them and their community.

WOW is located north of Ludlow Vt off of Route 103. Turn onto Sawyer Hill Road and proceed about 2 miles until reaching Tinney Road on the right. You will see the Forest Echo Farm mailbox. Follow this for about 1/2 miles until reaching the WOW parking area on your left.

If you reach the red buildings, you have gone too far. This part of the land is used by Forest Echo Farm (FEF) and its members and guests. Please turn around and proceed back up the hill towards the parking on the right.

Note: Please avoid taking Patch Brook Road as this is a seasonal and very narrow road along a stream that is prone to washing out in heavy rain. There are very few spaces to turn around or to let another car pass in the other direction.
