Where the road ends, our journey begins...
Our programs invite you to new places of wilderness in the physical forest, as well as the wilds of mind, spirit, and soul. Let us guide you to go beyond the familiar paths into the unknown.
PROGRAMS AT WOW
Are rooted in deep Earth practices, honoring the land, following natural cycles and living with the Earth as our home.
Utilize tools and techniques of Consciousness to expand the choices and possibilities that are available to us, and to be present in every moment of life.
Operate within a community of others and the web of life. We care about inclusivity, equity, and justice. We believe everybody has a gift to share.

“It's not possible to save the world by trying to save it. You need to find what is genuinely yours to offer the world before you can make it a better place. Discovering your unique gift to bring to your community is your greatest opportunity and challenge. The offering of that gift — your true self — is the most you can do to love and serve the world. And it is all the world needs.”
- Bill Plotkin
WOW TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Flow Learning
Programs follow ancient cycles of the Earth and take us on a journey of discovery to awaken enthusiasm, focus our attention, experience directly, and share inspiration.

Coyote Mentoring
Coyote Mentoring is a distinctive and highly effective educational approach developed by Jon Young and Wilderness Awareness School. Inspired by the trickster archetype of the coyote, it is a mentoring approach that taps into passions, storytelling, natural consequences, and more.

Invisible School
We are a school without a classroom, guiding by tapping into children's and adult's passions and inspiration like games, adventure, imagination, and hands-on experiences. You are the curriculum.

Program Logistics
Location: 695 Tinney Road, Mount Holly, Vermont 05758
The classroom is the forest... Here the trees support us with their canopy, the plants care for us with food and medicine, the wildlife inspires, and the land is the space that hold our stories.
Located on 400 acres of land, WOW shares space with Forest Echo Farm (FEF). WOW programs are located off Tinney Road before reaching FEF. With access to the public land trust, the Catamount Trail, VAST Trail, Tiny Pond, Tiny Mountain, and more there are plenty of adventures waiting.
Clothing and Gear: We will be fully immersed in the forest and its elements during our sessions. Being prepared can have a huge impact on the experience. Please dress your children appropriately for the weather, avoid cotton clothing, and pack extra basics like socks, gloves, and layers. If you need help getting started, check out this article from REI on How to Dress Your Kid for the Outdoors. We'll send out further details when you register for a program including a gear packing list. And reach out if you have questions on what to choose.

Weather Cancelation Policy: Sometimes the weather can become dangerous such as high winds, floods, excessive heat etc. WOW will cancel programs and notify participants of such cancelations. No refund will be offered for weather cancelations.
