Our Guiding Mission
Wilderness Outdoor Wisdom
invites the world into wholeness
through community, connection, and consciousness rooted in deep Earth practices.

We envision a community from youth to elders being soulful with the Earth, expressing their unique gifts, and expanding beyond perceived limitations into something bigger. We envision experiences that partner with nature to help people explore and be more of their true selves. Our programs are designed to inspire and guide individuals to explore their inner and outer worlds while fostering a sense of community consciousness.

By experiencing the beauty and wonder of the great outdoors, we aim to awaken the soulful leader within you, and help you envision a life filled with purpose and passion.

WOW Creationship Story
Creationship
A relationship built on the foundation of dynamic possibilities of choice with space to grow
The Beginning
Coming Together
Co-creators Scott and Rose met in the foothills of the Cascades in Washington state. A powerful friendship began over a bowl of curry as we both spent a year at Wilderness Awareness School practicing ways of being in relationship with the earth, learning about community and the gifts we each have to bring to this world. When our year-long immersion programs ended we decided to follow these threads into something bigger - creating Wilderness Outdoor Wisdom School (WOW School)

The Journey

Finding Land to Call Home
We set out from Washington state driving across the country to create a school connecting people, place and planet. We lived as the question, asking the universe for guidance on a place to call home. This is when Forest Echo Farm entered our awareness and a conversation began around the opportunity to be caretakers of the land and the possibility of creating programming to invite others into something bigger too.
WOW
Wilderness Outdoor Wisdom
Home in the Green Mountains of Vermont is a fire circle nestled between two sacred spruce trees surrounded by acres of protected forest. Here the invitation begins, with a conversation, an adventure, or a magical moment that leaves you with nothing to say but... WOW!

Wild Rose
Co-Creator/Guide
Rose loves guiding people into mystery using nature as a co-creator. This has looked like guiding young women on rights of passage from childhood into adolescence, to leading young ones on wild adventures through summer camps. Sometimes it is teaching naturalist skills like tree ID, animal behavior, wildlife tracking, bird calls etc. or it may look like wilderness skills including knife safety, navigation, or backpacking. Often it involves relationship with the land by calling in ancestral skills (sometimes called survival skills) like creating a fire by friction using materials off the land, cooking wild edible foods, tanning animal hides, practicing stealth and camouflage, building shelters, and sleeping under the stars. Through these practices, there is also space to work with personal development through mentoring, team-building challenges, council space, re-creating culture, and more. These opportunities that involve bringing people into a relationship with place, that involve transformation of self and psyche, within the greater community of wholeness and culture bring her alive.

Wildheart
Co-Creator/Guide
Scott is a wizard! (according to Rose but you may have first-hand experience of this too) Scott seeks to offer his passions and love as an invitation for both the human and more than human worlds to regenerate a deep relationship that has existed since time immemorial. Firmly believing that these ties that bind us to the Mother Earth can be remembered and strengthened, he brings his knowledge of Forest Therapy, energetic healing, mentoring, coaching, wilderness skills, and shamanic healing to all who seek to enter the reciprocity of our gifts and our receiving.

Core Values
Heartwood
The center of a tree hardened off by the wisdom of its first winter so the center does not freeze or die

Deep Earth Practices
We have a knowing that the Earth is our home. We practice ways of being in a relationship with Earth, with home, that awaken deeper love and respect for our planet.
Sacredness
We desire to create space to honor each individual's spiritual journey and explore the sacred through community and self-designed rituals, ceremonies, and rites of passage.
Gratitude
We reserve time to take pause to offer appreciation for what we value, what we find meaningful, and what makes us feel a connection to self, others, and earth.
Story Stewardship
We honor the sacred nature of story and practice being powerful stewards of both the narratives we tell and the ones we hear. We value the practice of deep heart listening and truth-speaking. We believe stories are powerful tools and gifts on our journeys to deeper understanding.
True Belonging
Unlike fitting in which requires us to be like everyone else, true belonging is when we feel free to be ourselves. It is the practice of showing up fully as you are and necessitates self-acceptance of the inner world. It is not external or out there.
Reciprocity
There is a great circle of gifting and receiving that we are constantly flowing within. We look for ways to find and grow our gifts and receive and honor the gifts of others. Within this flow, there is relationship. Relationship to ourselves, others, and the planet.
